This is a page for me to show you how much fun I've had, playing with paint.
Many years back, Steve Parkhouse, who I was sharing a house with at the time, remarked on how 'sophisticated' my colour work was on my pages of "Big Ben", the truly British superhero. Unfortunately, once I'd created the character, the editor decided to put the project on ice and pay me a pittance of a 'rejection fee'. This didn't actually stop him from publishing the story later without bothering to tell me, or to recompense me financially. Comics don't tend to work that way! And, even more sadly, they only printed it in black and white. So my 'sophisticated' colour work was lost.
Eventually, after many years and page after page of black and white work, it felt as if my colour sense was lost as well. Some of my first attempts at colour work for 2000AD annuals were quite pitifully inadequate. I was floundering. I was lost!
It took me quite a while to find my colour self again.
