Maze Dumoir came about as an example - trial run by the editorial team at 2000AD - to see if I could draw 'women'!
It was to 'prove'myself. So that they would have confidence in the projected Halo Jones saga that Alan was away writing at the time.
I think I must have convinced them! ;)
Below is a prime example of the 'Bodger's craft'. The script called for Maze to be naked ( rear view - so it would be 'tasteful' ). But the editors of the time decided that even that was too risque. So along came bodger; and glued a towel onto the artwork to cover the offending arse!
It seems a shame that Maze had only two episodes to make her mark.
I would have loved to see what other intrigues she got involved with.
But I guess that's me just being sentimental about my characters. There is a danger of getting too attached to them. Maybe that's why John Wagner is so happy to kill off his characters..?
