The few pieces that I've actually finished, have mostly all gone to new homes already. Which is nice to know.
I just need to get my brushes out and get more done.
I'll try to bring more images to this page as thigs progress.
If you're at all interested in aquiring something like this for yourself - then feel free to contact me to discuss it. ;)
A couple of years back, I suddenly decided that I wanted to 'change format' for want of a better designation.
I had been working in comix for more than 30 years. So I figured that a 'change was as good as a rest'. And I had been feeling particularly jaded.
So, the purchase of an easel, some oil paints and a few canvases gave a new spring to my step and, as a result, invigorated the art I was doing for comics at the same time.
An all round splendid result.
I even experimented in acryllics, which this background picture is an example of.
I think I'll be happy working in both media.
I just wish there were more hours in the day - or maybe just more energy in the ageing tanks!! ;)
One of the problems with painting is 'knowing when to stop'.
With illustration it's easy... when the editor starts shouting, you know you've finished. Or when the gas bill arrives etc.
But with painting you can faff about and fiddle with it doing endless tweaks and fixes till you're totally disenchanted with the thing!Maybe that's a sign of when to stop - when you've started to hate it! ;)
